Artist's Statement

"Since my childhood in the American Southwest, I have been interested in, and surrounded by storytellers from many different traditions. Telling stories with pictures and sound is one of my earliest memories. Certainly there were stories told and retold on special occaisions, both public and private for specific purposes (intstructional, religious, cautionary). The stories that made the deepest and most lasting impression however were those that were connected with daily life, especially those told with humor."

"The specific challeges of taking the writer's vision and creating from it something tangible that can be shared with others is what draws me to filmmaking as a medium. With actors and technical crews I tend to take a collaborative, ensemble approach, and view us as co-creators of the project at hand."
