"Margaretha" and "Speaking"

Two short films by Gary Bass, "Margaretha" and "Speaking", will be shown prior to the screening, "drive-in movie" style, of his feature "Radiopaque" (see below). Free.

Drive-in Movie: "Radiopaque"

Directed by: Gary Bass

In "Radiopaque", Marion Owens (Patrick Garrabrant), Indiana park service attendent and inventor discovers (belatedly) that his artistic and illusive girlfriend, Julie Thompson (Megan Brown), has left him to study hypnosis in Florida.

"Radiopaque" will be presented as a "drive-in movie", projected onto a screen in the parking lot of the El Pasaje (Cafe Creole) building, with the soundtrack broadcast to car radios by WMNF Radio 88.5 FM.

Free, including free parking, first-come, first-parked basis. Lawn chairs, blankets, and portable radios welcome.

Cuban Coffee, Pasteries, and Filmmakers

Informal discussion with the artists/filmmakers creating site-specific works for the festival.

Opening Tour of Installations

Opening tour of installations located in Ybor Square, El Pasaje, Don Vicente de Ybor. All sites are located at the corners of 9th Ave and Republica de Cuba (14th Street). The installations will be open throughout the festival, noon to 8 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Free.

Films by Ted Lyman

Ted Lyman's films have been shown in national and international venues, have won several best of festival awards, and have been broadcast by PBS and the Learning Channel.

Works being screened are: "Testament of the Rabbit", "First Surface", "Flat Earth", and "Fla.Me.".

Where: HCC Ccampus Theater, Palm Avenue and 14th Street. Ticket required.

Films by Andrew Lyman-Clarke

Andrew Lyman-Clarke, son of Ted Lyman, grew up in Northern Vermont, where he developed an early and deep interest in motion pictures.

Two of his works will be presented: "PIllow/head" and "Inhale the Poison Gas".

"Alpha Beta Disco: Godard Remix"
"The Soft Bits"

Live performance works "Alpha Beta Disco and "The Soft Bits by DropBox, a new media collaborative organized in 2001 by Michael DeMurga and Matthew Roberts. Using software, these programmers deconstruct and process Godardıs classic.

Prior to the performance by DropBox, "Unseen Cinema" curator Bruce Posner will present "Homage to Stan Brakhage".

"Cuba: The 40 Years War"

Forty years after the U.S. Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961, five Cuban-American veterans traveled from Miami to Havana for an international conference. "Cuba" was created by Peter Melaragno.

After "Cuba", Peter will present "REsolution 3281", a work in progress.

Where: HCC Ybor Room, 9th Avenue and 14th Street. Ticket required.

"Growing Up With Rockets"

In honor of the Columbia crew, Nancy Yasecko will present "Growing Up With Rockets", her personal homage to the space program, through its birth to the launch of the first shuttle vehicle.
