David Audet is Special Projects Manager and Artistic Director for the HCC Ybor Festival of the Moving Image.
He received his BFA in from and photography from the University of South Florida, Tampa in 1979. As a filmmaker, he has worked as a scriptwriter, cameraperson and editor with various production companies including Atlantic Productions in Tampa, and Vanguard Productions in Cocoa, and as assistant set dresser for “Kennedy,” the NBC 1984 min-series.
A founding member of the locally renowned Ybor Artists and Writers Group, he helped produce many art events in Ybor City from 1979-2003. Mr. Audet owned and operated Ground Zero Performance Gallery (1983-85) and the Still and Moving Gallery (1993-1995).
He has curated numerous art exhibitions including “Real Lush, Two,” that toured throughout Florida including the St. Petersburg Arts Center, Eckerd College and the Tampa Museum of Art. He received a Florida Individual Artists Grant in 1983.
One of his most recent accomplishments was the development and coordination of Hillsborough Community College’s Prodigy Program, a cultural arts intervention and prevention program for youth offenders at the University Area Community Center, 2000-2002.
He continues to work as a filmmaker.
