Based on a passage by Mark Leyner in "My Cousin, My Gastroenterologist" (1990), Hardguy was funded in part by a Grant from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

This premiere performance of Hardguy is lovingly dedicated to the governor of California.
