Transmission Truck
This unique work utilizes a moving truck and videos solicited from many artists.
A rented 14-foot moving truck is loaded with a projector, DVD player, and speaker system and
powered by extension cords plugged into an inverter attached to the idling truck’s battery.
The projector throws a video image onto rear-screen material mounted across the truck’s
rear opening.
In addition to video works by the producers, works by other artists will be shown, including:
"Domition" by Marilyn
Gottlieb-Roberts.
From the Producers:
"Acknowledging the aesthetic parameters of the venue (rectangular box on 4 wheels)
has been found to play an important role in a video’s ultimate impact in this particular
setting. All kinds of work may be submitted, with preference shown to those pieces which reference
the unique character of the viewing platform."
"The tactics for making and disseminating art are part of a growing move away from
convention venues, and a move toward establishing new, less encumbered, lines of engagement
between artist and viewer. “Transmission” seeks to marry the ethereal, high-tech
projection of video to the decidedly more low-tech welded steel chassis of a truck, freeing
both artist and viewer from the confines of the screening room, gallery, and museum."
