Daniel Roby
Daniel Roby earned his film school degrees at Concordia University and at the University of Southern California. He began his career working as a director of photography on several short films and moved on to shoot Michel Jetté's feature film Hochelaga (2000).
In 1995, Roby founded a production company called La Mafia, and developed several short films. He acted as line producer on Robin Aubert's film Lila, which the Quebec's Association of Film Critics honoured as Best Short Fiction Film of 2001.
In 2000, La Mafia was renamed Zone Films, and Roby has since produced four more short films, including Nos bras meurtris vous tendent le flambeau, the first Canadian fiction to be shot entirely in HD and projected in 35mm. In 2001, he worked as director of photography on the film Trick or Treat and directed his first short, Quelques instants de la vie d'une fraise.
White Skin is Roby's feature film directorial debut.
