Another strange little gem from the remarkable oeuvre of Guy Maddin with moments of heartbreaking beauty. It harkens back to the grandeur of Hollywood of old, and yet is alive with mischievous irony and a perverse love of the heavy-handed gesture. Considered by some as the finest movie ever made about mesmerism and ostrich farming. This is typical of Maddin's bizarre and wonderful vision.
