2007 Festival of the Moving Image

Hillsborough Community College presents the Ybor Festival of the Moving Image, one of Florida's celebrated film festivals, from Thursday, April 19 through Sunday, April 22.

Returning for its 5th year of presenting exciting cinema and related events to Tampa Bay audiences, the festival continues its tradition of screening unusual features, documentaries, shorts and animation from around the world.

"Global Snapshots" is our continuing theme and this year's selections is a sampling of innovative films that recognize the experience of lives affected by patriarchy, social constructions of race and gender, cultural dominance, poverty, and the arbitrariness of labels and structures as defined by the dominant machinations of society. (really!)

Besides inviting a number of filmmakers to premiere work each year, the HCC-Ybor festival commissions site-specific works in related art mediums such as theater, dance, music and installations that include a motion media element in its production.
