A naive woman emerges from a pink bag into a retro kitchen where appliances attack. Can she break free?
Writer and directory Susan Hippen asks that question (and more) in her short film "Pink Bag".
Susan Hippen is a director from a small Iowa farm town, where she lived on imagination. She moved to California to work in architecture. Inspired by her experiences with builders and artists she met, she discovered she had to make those stories into films.
Excited by the independent scene in New York, she now lives in East Harlem, where she finds an endless variety of international influences. She currently makes films while enrolled in the New York University Graduate Film Program and is preparing a feature based on her new experiences.
Director's Statement
"My rural upbringing inspires my site-specific directing. To create unique environments, I draw upon my architectural background to explore and shape space in challenging new ways."
