Carolyn Kossar
Carolyn Kossar is a fiber artist and photographer who is director of the Hillsborough Community College-Ybor Gallery and a staff participant in the Ybor Festival of the Moving Image since its inception.
Kossar joined the HCC staff as part-time Gallery Director in July 2000. Kossar's past arts experiences include Membership Director and Operations Manger at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale; and several years experience, beginning in 1988, at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida, holding positions as Administrative Assistant, Facility Manager and Art School Director.
During her tenure there, the Art and Culture Center hosted two of Fort Lauderdale's Black Film Festivals, with guest artists Spike Lee and Danny Glover.
She holds a BLS Degree in Humanities from Barry University in Miami. As a fiber artist and photographer, Kossar has attended Parsons School of Design at Lake Placid, New York, and the Penland School in North Carolina. She is responsible for the operation, exhibition and educational programming of HCC's Ybor Campus Art Gallery. Her position became full-time in July 2001 ensuring high-quality artistic programming and collaborations for the Ybor School of Visual & Performing Arts.
