Kevin Waterman (Paul Hickert) is a troubled ex-vice detective. When his old partner and friend Glenn Books (Simisi Odu) is murdered by the Mob, he has nothing left but revenge. His journey leads him to the heart of the city's crime syndicate and will cause him to question everything he believes.
"The Source" is Writer/Director Joshua Long's first short film. It was shot (using the Red One camera) over the course of five days amongst various Tampa landmarks such as the Don Vicente Inn, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and University of Tampa.
To date, according to Long, "The Source" is one of the school's most ambitious projects.
"We couldn't have made this movie without the help we received from so many people," Long said. "We thought it would be hard to get the locations we wanted," added Producer Michael Long, "but every one met us with open arms."
"The Source" will be shown in May 2010 at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner at Cannes, France. It also won Best Picture and Best Actor awards at UT's first Annual Black Box Film Festival and selected for the Sunscreen Film Festival.
